Please Help Us Feed and Care for Hawaiʻi’s Cats and Dogs
Every day, community volunteers across Hawaiʻi Island — especially in and around Pāhoa — are feeding, caring for, and providing medical help for hundreds of abandoned and homeless cats and dogs.
These compassionate caretakers — including Kahu Popoki and local Community Cat caregivers — do this entirely from their own pockets.
Now, they need your kōkua (help).
🐾 Who Your Donation Helps
Your gift provides food and care for:
-
Mini-Cat Sanctuary (Lower Puna) – 33 cats, safely enclosed and fed daily
-
Lower Puna Cat Colony – 20 cats fed daily
-
Six Cat Colonies in Pāhoa Town – over 100 cats fed daily
-
Community Pet Food Bank – supporting families and caretakers who cannot afford food for:
-
An elderly Pāhoa couple caring for 20 cats and 6 dogs
-
A small Kalapana Gardens colony of 20 cats
-
A Kaimū colony of 8 cats
-
That’s over 200 cats and 6 dogs who rely on our community to survive.
🍽️ The Real Cost of Compassion
-
🐱 Canned cat food (5.5 oz) – about $0.92 each
-
🐱 Dry cat food (30 lb bag) – about $30 ($1.00 per lb)
-
🐶 Dry dog food (35 lb bag) – about $47 ($1.35 per lb)
Every can and every scoop counts.
When we can’t afford wet food, we feed only dry — though every cat does better with both.
And yes — every cat we feed is part of a Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) program.
Feeding goes hand in hand with sterilization to reduce future suffering and stabilize colonies humanely.
❤️ How You Can Help Right Now
The most effective way to make a difference is to set up a Monthly Recurring Donation.
Your steady support means:
-
No cat goes hungry.
-
Caretakers can keep feeding and providing vet care.
-
We can continue TNR for long-term population stability.
🐾 Just $25 a month feeds 10–12 cats for several days.
🐾 $50 a month helps an entire small colony.
🐾 $100 a month keeps multiple colonies fed and cared for.
🙏 Mahalo Nui Loa
Your donation directly supports the hands and hearts caring for Hawaiʻi’s forgotten animals.
Every dollar helps fill a food bowl, heal a wound, or give comfort to a hungry cat or dog who would otherwise go without.
Please give today — and consider making your gift monthly.
Together, we can keep them fed, safe, and loved.
