We Need Your Help to Protect Hawaiʻi’s Cats – Time is Running Out!

Beginning January 1, 2026, Hawaiʻi County will ban the feeding of community cats on county land — a devastating blow for the animals who depend on us for survival.

You and thousands of compassionate cat advocates spoke out, signed petitions, and attended meetings to oppose this cruel ban.

Yet our voices were ignored. We were dismissed and disrespected by certain council members — not pono at all.

Like many of you, it took time to recover from that experience. But now, more than ever, we must re-engage and stand together.

Because we are their only voice.

🐾 Why We Must Keep Fighting

If we don’t speak up for the cats, no one will.
If we don’t push for humane, effective solutions, inhumane ones will prevail.

Hawaiʻi Animal Advocacy (HAA) is committed to both protecting the cats and safeguarding native birds through responsible, science-based cat management.

Facts About Managed Cat Colonies

Feeding and fixing community cats:

  • Reduces bird predation by 50–100%

  • Lowers Toxoplasma gondii levels by 83–100%

  • Stabilizes cat populations and reduces them humanely over time

No endangered or threatened bird species on Hawaiʻi Island is at risk of extinction due to cats.

Feeding and managing cat colonies is a key strategy to reduce predation pressure and support native birds’ survival.

💪 What We’ve Achieved So Far

Thanks to your support, HAA has:

  • Gathered over 7,500 signatures opposing the Feeding Ban

  • Launched the Cat Manifesto, already signed by over 250 supporters

  • Built strong digital and community outreach platforms to defend Hawaiʻi’s cats

But these efforts require ongoing funding to continue — and grow.

🌺 How Your Donation Helps

Your monthly support directly powers our work to:

  1. Elect County Council members who support humane cat policies

  2. Educate voters through social media, radio, and public outreach

  3. Advocate for humane, science-based solutions at all levels of government

  4. Support feeding, TNR, and caretaking for community cats
